Residential Rental Property Pursuant to city ordinance 07-08-178 all residential rental property in the City of Horn Lake must be registered with the rental housing inspector. The rental housing inspector works in the Code Enforcement Division of the Horn Lake Police Department. As part of the registration process each residential rental property must be inspected by the rental housing inspector and meet the provisions of the ordinance and other applicable city ordinances before the rental housing inspector can issue a certificate of occupancy. Individuals or other parties who own residential rental property covered by this ordinance should contact the Horn Lake Police Department to complete the registration and inspection process. Failure to register residential rental property is a violation of city ordinance 07-08-178. Note: The residential rental application has changed (effective 9/3/09). There are two parts to the application. Below you will find part of the application labeled, owner & agent information. You only need to complete one of these for an owner regardless of how many properties that owner has. A second part, property & tenant information, is used to list the properties for one owner. You can file up to 4 properties on each sheet. Attach as many sheets as necessary for the number of properties you own and include this in with your application. If you should have questions please call Linda Shelton at 662-342-3526.
