Whereas, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Horn Lake, Mississippi:
An ordinance establishing the maximum sped limits, except when otherwise posted by sign, within the City of Horn Lake, Mississippi corporate limits.
School Zones when Children are Present 15 miles per hour
Residential Areas 20 miles per hour
Other Streets not defined as Residential or School Zone Areas 45 miles per hour
A. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle at a speed in excess of any speed so declared when official signs are in place giving notice thereof, unless otherwise designated by signs or markings.
B. Any person convicted of a violation of this ordinance shall be fined not more than $500.00 and/or imprisoned for not more than ten (10) days.
When official signs or markings are in place giving notice of any speed limit, the posted speed limit shall control.
This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force from and after being certified by the City Clerk, signed by the Mayor and Board of Majority, recorded in the ordinance book, published and after waiting 30 days after passage.
This ordinance after passage and its effective date shall amend the speeding section of Ordinance 75-39 and repeal Ordinance 94-09-39.
