An Ordinance Designating Ridgewood in the City of Horn Lake, Mississippi between Meadowbrook and Valleybrook as One-Way traffic between the hours of 6:45 am until 7:45 am and between the hours of 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm When Children are Present and Attending School





Section 1.  Purpose

        To allow for one-way traffic on Ridgewood when Children are present and attending school to help with the flow of traffic and as a safety precaution for the children attending Horn Lake Elementary School.


Section 2.  Effective Hours and Direction of Traffic

        When school is open for children to attend class, traffic will be one way on Ridgewood from Meadowbrook to Valleybrook between the hours of 6:45 am until 7:45 am and between the hours of 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, with traffic flowing south on Ridgewood from Meadowbrook to Valleybrook.


Section 3.  Appropriate Markings

        The intersections of Meadowbrook and Ridgewood, Valleybrook and Ridgewood, Magnolia and Ridgewood, Shady Grove and Ridgewood, and Norwood Cove and Ridgewood, shall be appropriately marked by signs, marking or other traffic control devices to reflect the proper flow of traffic and to prohibit traffic flow in an improper direction during the prescribed period.  The signs shall be installed as soon as possible after passage of this Ordinance.


Section 4.  Violations and penalties

        The driver or operator of any vehicle who shall fail to obey such signs, markings or other traffic control device, after having being in place for fourteen (14) days shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than twenty five dollars ($25.00) plus court costs nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) plus court costs, or up to thirty (30) days in the County Jail or both.


Section 5.  Effective Date

        Now that School is in session, it is necessary to expedite the effective date of this Ordinance.  Therefore, this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage by a unanimous vote of the Governing body for the immediate protection, health, safety and welfare of the children attending the Horn Lake Elementary School.
